Summer Camps
Yorkshire Muddings Summer Camp runs at our Grange Moor site during the first 3 weeks of the school summer holidays.
Our holiday summer camps are for wild children from Reception to age 11 to be immersed in nature in our magical forest setting. We swing in hammocks, build dens, create potions in the mud kitchen and make happy memories the whole day long.
Our peaceful, shaded woodland is the perfect place for your wildling to explore with old and new friends, create forest works of art, challenge their balancing abilities on our slackline or find a quiet corner to hunt for minibeasts.

Summer Camp Dates – August 2023
Summer camp day runs 9:30am - 3:30pm at our Grange Moor site.
A typical Yorkshire Muddings Summer Camp day
Our day begins at 9:30am where all our team will greet you at the drop off point and be free to have a quick if there is anything you want to ask, tell or check.
Children will be assigned a designated Chief Mudding - the adult who will be their point of call for all things woodland related during the day.
Free play in the woods is how we begin our day. Perhaps your little one will join friends on the giant log swing or burn off energy on our woodland climbing activities? The choice is theirs.
Mid-morning Chief Muddings will gather their group together for snack time nestled under the trees and a quick check in to see how everyone is getting on.
The rest of the morning is spent exploring the woodland free play spaces before groups are called back together, ensuring hands are thoroughly washed, to enjoy a picnic lunch.
In the afternoon, it’s time to allow the children’s creative spirit to run free. Imagine large scale canvas hung between trees, or perhaps foraging for leaves and twigs to create woodland clay faces all guided by our expert Chief Muddings.
Before we know it, it’s Fire Time. A gathering of all the groups and Chief Muddings under the canopy and around the fire to watch it being lit. We listen to a story while it gets to just the right marshmallow toasting temperature. The question is, will your forest adventurer choose a pink or white marshmallow?!
Quiet time in their designated group space and a chance to reflect on all the challenges and success of a day in the woods is how they’ll end their day before pick up at 3:30pm. Each Chief Mudding will pick a forest adventurer who has particularly impressed them during the day and they will be presented with a badge of honour to keep.
They’ll be tired, possibly muddy, perhaps with a leaf or two stuck in their hair and definitely with the sweet smell of wood smoke and marshmallow on their cheeks.
